Suggestions ???????

Okay, here's the deal.....

I just replaced my sparkplugs. The bike starts and idles fine. I get on it to go, and as soon as load is put on it... (putting it into gear and giving it gas) it boggs down as if it's only firing on a couple cylinders. I was also having a problem with my HTEV valve, I tore it apart, cleaned some carbon from it, and put it back together. Now, what I'm thinking is that either I've got a loose/bad connection to a plug, or for some reason the HTEV is screwing me. I was under the impression that if the HTEV was sticking similar to the servo going out, that I would loose some bottom end, but it wouldn't be this bad. Any suggestions guys? It's late now, so I'm done for the evening, but tomorrow AM I am going to pull the tank and screw with the plugs again. I am also pretty mechanicly inclined, and I've replaced the plugs once before, so it's not like I'm a rookie at it. Thanks in advance.

Re: Suggestions ???????

Could be a loose plug wire or maybe even a plug wire that has...seperated from the cap...? Know what I mean? The wire might have broke...

I'm mechanical challenged so that's all I've got.

No, they come pre-gapped. My biggest problem with it being the plugs is that it runs and idles fine. Right up until I start to go. Then it seems as if it's missing. I would think that if it were missing, it would be missing all the time.

Re: Suggestions ???????

Might be something with the program or a sensor too! Sometimes they just happen to show up when you do something like that and so you think it's something you did. Definately double check your work and the GAP on the plugs (never trust pregapped as accurate - if the box got dropped it can close it). If the gap is too small it would idle fine and then bog when you had more fuel! After making sure you didnt' cause the problem look in to the controller and sensor issues. I would guess either bad gap, bad plug or bad wire.

Re: Suggestions ???????

I had a loose connection on one of my plugs. Didnt get the connector snapped right back onto the plug boot when I had it out. It idled fine, and then when you tried to get on it hard it would missfire.

Take the boots all back off, check your connectors, try again.

I suppose it could be a bad plug, but not likely for brand new ones.
Also you might have knocked off a vac. line while you were doing something under there.

Re: Suggestions ???????

If you are using Iridium plugs (like say NGK or Denso) you can't gap them. In fact it tells you in the service manual, if the gap is off, to toss the plug....

Re: Suggestions ???????

Could also be a pinched fuel line that allows only enough fuel to let it idle to reach the injectors ?

Re: Suggestions ???????

How about having two of the plug wires mixed up (i.e. cylinders two and three)?
