Re: lowering temp. on a 954

Hi everyone. Does anyone have any information on lowering the temperature on a 954? Can the thermostat be changed to run 20-30 degrees F. colder? I think this would be another way to make some gains or am I wrong? Got any ideas? Thanks!

I've heard some people talking about running Water Wetter before, but haven't tried it myself. Don't know how much cooler it'll make her run though.

Re: lowering temp. on a 954

I have Watter Wetter in my bike but only because it was required for the track. I can say that I noticed the bike ran cooler, at least cooler than I expected in FL when the temps were in the mid 90's.

Can't say that it runs 20 or more degrees cooler, though.

I was running evans coolant in my track F3 and it would run around 203 when riding hard. I put water wetter in it and it's now running around 185-189.

Do you have to drain your radiator to use water wetter? How do you use it?

Re: lowering temp. on a 954

The instructions are on the bottle, but in the meantime...

Yes, the idea is to drain all of the coolant from your bike, and replace it with distilled water. *The name 'Water Wetter' is a play on the idea that Water Wetter will make your distilled water 'more wet.' You add a small amount of Water Wetter to act as a lubricant for rubber seals and for anti-corrosion. *You need to use caution in the winter, and replace the water/Water Wetter with anti-freeze if your bike will be subjected to freezing temps.

Re: lowering temp. on a 954

Thanks for all the info on water wetter. I am going to give that a go....I am still curious about a thermostat change. I think I read somewhere that for every 5 dergrees F. cooler your bike runs you gain 1 HP. Is that right?
