1000RR in person

well, yesterday I finally got a chance to see the new Blade in person...the local Honda shop here had an all black model on the floor...just received it the day before I believe he said...one of the workers had already molested the thing....he said, and I quote, "now I know how to wheelie a bike in third gear" or something stupid like that....glad to know the workers there take good care of the new merchandise

anyways, I must say, I was a bit underwhelmed by the bike...that's not a knock on it, I am just stating my feelings...it just looked a bit "big and beefy"...the all black does look fairly nice, but I think I'd prefer the silver/black(side note: there was a guy leaving the place on a silver/black model....told ccwilli he had like 20 miles on it after 2 days!! only 20 miles?!?!) the brakes really appear to be nice and the tailsection was a bit larger than I expected...I did have a chance to sit on the bike and I must say, I didn't notice any extra weight...the ergos didn't bother me as much as most Hondas do...the seat on the F4i and the 600RR are planks...but the seat of the big Blade was tolerable... all in all, the bike appears to be the most well put together of all the new liters I have seen in person...at this point, I am still leaning towards the 1000RR, but old reliable(RC51) is definitely going to be considered as well....

Re: 1000RR in person

I was pretty impressed when I saw it. It's sharper looking than I saw in pictures and it's noticeably smaller than my 929 was. The stock exhaust looks a bit massive and metallic under the seat, but everything else is impressive.

Re: 1000RR in person

having a 600RR like I do, it just did nothing for me. The draw of new liter power has no pull on me... Its a bit wider than the 600 (obviously) and well, even though I really like the all black, I am not feeling its worth the insurance hike I'd have to stomach to put it in my garage...

Re: 1000RR in person

This is just my two cent - I have owned and ridden a number of honda machines (CBR600 Hurrican, F2, F3, VFR800, CBR929). I just purchased the 1000 RR and in a word - this is one refined machine. IMHO - it is the best CBR yet. The first thing I noticed about the 1000 RR is it has a very low CG and is very deceptive when you go counter balance. This is a good thing. Next- The power is very linear and smooth - there are no suprises with you flick the throttle - again - for me this is a good thing since my 929 was very twitchy. The bike also feels very nimble like my 929 which corners like it is on rails. I am still in the break in on it so that is all I really can report at this moment.

The CBR1000 RR

BTW - I choose the all black

Re: 1000RR in person

Just had a look at all three colors sitting next to a silver '02 954.
To me, the silver/black is the best looking of the three. I do like the all black, but the silver just has something to it.
And while the pictures initially made it seem larger than the 954 to me, looking at it in person proved that wrong.

Re: 1000RR in person

After sitting on the 1000 and finding that its a perfect fit for me I rushed home to tell the "Wifey" but she wasn't impressed lol.Looks like I'll have to wait huh?
That radiator does concern me a little without a cover on it,won't it be really prone to damage at the bottom?
Apart from that its a sharp bit of engineering.

Re: 1000RR in person

Hopefully they will make them as pretty as the 600rr in the next few years' plastics. I do like the exhaust and swingarm though. Are the Ram-air intakes under the bulbs just for show? If so I think it would look better without. Just my opinion... I would still love to own one, but the 600 is prettier
