Anyone gutted a stock 929/54 can ?

If so, how does it sound and run? I'm looking for a bit more growl and maybe some power (certainly not a loss of) for cheap. And I can't think of anything cheaper than hacking up the stocker.

Thanks

Mine was welded on the back so you couldnt get into it. And when I looked down from the midpipe side there are a few different chambers that the flow goes through. It wasnt straight through like my hindle. The Hindle is WAY lighter too.

There is more to making a pipe than just gutting a standard one. In the same way as 5 different pipes will give you 5 different results. Just see if you can get a 2nd hand after market pipe. Don't gut the stocker. It'll be crap.

Re: Anyone gutted a stock 929/54 can ?

I removed the main baffle plate. If you look in from the bolt on side there is a plate that you can reach with a looooong drill bit.I haven't been able to remove the other baffle tubes that appear to be in there, looks like it would require major surgery.I like the way it sounds, definately better than stock.I highly doubt I gained or lossed any hp.I do have an extra 929 can with this mod already done for $20 since I ended up doing the same mod to a 954 can.If you want to hear it,we can exchange phone #'s and I can bounce it off the limiter for for you.

Amen.

You're just as likely to make the bike sound like a UPS truck as you are to improve the sound. Just leave the darn thing alone if you can't afford a s/o.
