poor finish on cbr1000rr

I had a short spin on a 1000rr today. It has an amazing engine, pulling cleanly from very low revs, Honda have finally sorted the fuel injection.

The bike I rode today had 600 miles on it. The tank was visibly marked where the riders knees grip the tank.

I was wondering if anyone here had the same problem.

Three other owners have complained about the finish on the tank.

Re: poor finish on cbr1000rr

Sounds like you need a "Tank Slapper" tank protector.

Cheap, look great, easy to apply, work awesome.

Re: poor finish on cbr1000rr

Is it just because the tank outer is plastic??

The steel tanks don't seem to show any marks.

Re: poor finish on cbr1000rr

It probably doesn't have a clearcoat, just like the 600.

Re: poor finish on cbr1000rr

Mine is even scratched around the tanksplapper.

You can always hang out in front of the starbucks, the tank won't get to scuffed up then

Re: poor finish on cbr1000rr

Is the 1000RR tank plastic like the 600RR?

I've never known about the tank slapper, but after checking out the web link, I'm gonna have one ordered by payday
