Re: Odd tire wear.

Both of my tires are wearing oddly. *A tech at Honda said that it we due to improper inflation and hard cornering. *They do not appear to be wearing due to under or over inflation cause that would mean that either the center or outsides would be worn down, correct? *Also, I dont think that I corner hard. *They are sort of rippled like. *Almost like they are out of balance. *They are getting pretty bad now and I dont think that there is any hope except to get new ones. Btw, I have 4800mi on them. There was only 1600 when I got it so I believe that I have done something wrong.

Thoughs? *How can I prevent this in the future?

Re: Odd tire wear.

Are they worn between the center of the tire and the L.outside and the center and the R.outside?

That would be cupping. Its just part of tire wear on a M/C, mostly because of the Pushing to on the Right bar to go Right and the Pushing of the Left to go Left.
That is where the tires work the hardest.
It also makes the tires feather on the edges the tread patterns.

Re: Odd tire wear.

The tires are Bridgestone Battlax BT010 (does that sound right), I am assuming that is what Honda put on it.

The front tire is the worst, maybe cause I put more weight on the front :shrugs:. The cupping does go from the center to left side and center to the right side, not so much right down the center itself. The back is not really cupped. Its flat in the center, but the tread is smooth.

Thanks for the link Pete.

Re: Odd tire wear.

sounds like cupping to me..... normal for a bike since the tires cant be rotated, i've got BT010's on my bike, the front is cupped a little, but almost 5000 miles on a set of tires.... i'm happy as hell.... got back last week from the Honda Hoot... they performed flawlessly thru all 8 trips of Rt 129
