Re: What's the latest news on the 2004 1000RR

MCN supposedly has another write up on the new 1000RR. They don't sell MCN in my neck of the woods. Anybody have the article?

Re: What's the latest news on the 2004 1000RR

Latest pic from yesterdays issue. Text makes point that HRC are/were heavily involved in the development of the bike, which is not how Honda normally do things.
Referring to it as the CBR998RR.

It goes on to say that they are pretty confident thta this is what it will look like (photoshop type photo only so far) but also it has a few surprises up it's sleeve.

160 bhp, 165kg, Brembo (a first) Radial mounted brakes. Looks very very similar to the RCV, or so they say.

Re: What's the latest news on the 2004 1000RR

Thanks for the info Proto. This confirms what the Honda rep told me the other day at the Honda demo ride. He said the new 1000RR would look like the 600RR, with underset exhaust and styling. Looks like he was right.

Re: What's the latest news on the 2004 1000RR

I wish I knew which mag was copying who...sometimes I think the J-mags are copying 'western' mags. Here's a pic from the latest 'Auto-Bai' magazine...a rival to 'Young Machine'. Same story, a glorified 600rr of which we all have been accustommed to anticipate. Except for this news of brembo radially mounted brakes, which they show on the front, with a Nissin on the rear. They also only show a single can this time around instead of twin-tail config (pic on following page but it's a 600rr boring cg)...plus the SP-1 headlight thingy. *And this name change thing...998rr doesn't follow the 600 naming...a wanna-be Duc tag ain't cuttin' it and I don't think it will actually be called that. Better off following the Gixxer in this regard.

Re: What's the latest news on the 2004 1000RR

The pic Proto put up looks like the bike had a smashed in nose, looks way too small/out of proportion. At least it had the right swingarm & plastics this time. Probably just a modified 600RR pic that someone whipped up 'cuz they were bored. The pics they put out started to look good(I really liked the projection 4 bulb headlights) but now it's taken a turn for the ugly again

Re: What's the latest news on the 2004 1000RR

Here's a tiny pic of a proposed new VTR 1000. Looks a lot like a Glynn Kerr thing. Anybody got a bigger/better/more version?

Let's hope the CBR-nose will look more like this than the CBR600RR-nose...

Re: What's the latest news on the 2004 1000RR

depends on how the 'shoot-outs' go, by this time next year I may consider it for my next 'big' bike.

couple guys have the GXER1000 and they are hella fast (straight line), Im looking for a bigger bike (yes, Im keeping the 954) to add to my repetoir (sp).

The Busa is atop my list right now, the ZX12R's are well....a Kawasuckie need I say more, I dont need a RC51 cuz Im not racing so Im just shopping right now and seeing whats out there..
