Need help tuning Suspension CBR 954

I guess its no secret stock settings on this bike are a little mild. What i'm looking to do is keep the frontend from raising up and getting real light under accelleration. I have no idea how to adjust the suspension I have no manual or know what clockwise or counter clockwise adjustments do. I'm about 165# with gear 5'10 pretty short but already figuring i'll need to raise the rear some. Does anyone know where I can get a extended swingarm maybe 3 in that does'nt look trashy? Thanks for the help.

Re: Need help tuning Suspension CBR 954

Your question is very broad. What kind of riding are you going to do,(Road track, Drag, Street ???) This will depend on what settings we can advise. Extended swing arm is good for the drag strip but sucks on the twisties. I take it this is your first bike? The 954 is light steered in the front due to the geometry of the swingarm, some people like it some don't I got used to it.

It's amazing how stupid some people can be.

Welcome.

Get a steering damper. This will help make that front end as safe as possible. For more info on the damper, do a search on this site.

IMHO extended swingarms arms only have a place on the dragstrip.

Re: Need help tuning Suspension CBR 954

Since his complaint was in regards to front end lift on acelleration and he mentions an extended swingarm, I have to assume he is racing this thing at the dragstrip.

If you want to keep from getting bumped into a higher class, I would strap the front end and leave the swingarm alone. You can get a lowering link for the rear that helps launching the bike when used in conjuction with a front end strap. Keep your body over the front end until you are well into second gear and you should be able to shave a few thou off of your 60 ft times . . .

Easy solution would be to drop a couple teeth on the rear sprocket and go up one on the front.
