Bar end Question

I am wanting to change the barends on the 54 to a LP carbon inlay type and the LP ends come with rubber or without. Does the 954 have rubber or not?

It's amazing how stupid some people can be.

Re: Bar end Question

Mine didn't have any rubber on it, just a screw and a black metal bar end

Make sure you use locktite when you put the new bar ends on, or else the screw/allen head will fall off!

Re: Bar end Question

I hope the LP ones fit .. I just do not know if the 954 takes the rubber piece or not. I have the matching frame sliders and would like the bar ends to match.

It's amazing how stupid some people can be.

Re: Bar end Question

I just purchased lp bar ends, and the bolt that comes on them doesn't fit my 01 929 at all. Hopefully you'll have more luck with the 954...

Has anyone put these lp bar ends on their 929? If so, which model...I was hoping to go with the gold.

Not unless you remove the inner bar weight. Then the ones with rubber MAY fit. But, it's all a bad idea anyway since you want as much weight there as possible to help cut down on the vibrations. The LP ends are lighter than the stock ones, and if you have to remove the inner weights to use them, you'll be hating life.

Re: Bar end Question

Mine are the extra heavy brushed metal ones and they make a huge difference. I can't remember the brand. I bought them new for the 929 and they've been on the RC and now the 954. They help so much, the mirrors are even clearer because of less vibes.

ps. Lockhart stuff is usually kinda junky...

I made some heavy SS bar ends. They work well. If you take the stock weights out and put in the LPs, try not to ruin any of the stock stuff - you'll probably want to put it back in there after a ride or two.
