Just bought an 01 929RR

Hello all,

Just wanted to introduce myself as a proud new owner of a yellow and black 929RR with 7K miles I recently sold an 02 F4i and I'm anticipating a great time onboard this bike. Any suggestions or comments about the 929? It comes with a D&D CF slip-on which I'm probably going to sell and purchase a Two-Bros instead. Thanks!!

Re: Just bought an 01 929RR

Congrats on your new bike Fast929. You're going to love it for it's torque and power. I think it's one of the most comfortable sportbikes (just my opinion) because of how you kinda sit behind the tank versus on top of the tank. Someone here called it a great sport tourer compared to other bike ergos. Too much to recommend, you'll have about a month of reading older threads here on mods - lol. A couple suggestions to start with would be;

Damper
Zero Gravity Double Bubble (clear is my choice)
Mirror extenders (they're great! )
Corbin or Sargent seat

Then there's the suspension mods and exhaust/PCIII mods

Good luck, you'll love it!

Congrats and welcome to this forums. You will find a vast amount of info here, do a search and you will be sitting at your computer till your eyes are sore from reading all the great material.

Ya as mentioned above:

Steering damper
Frame sliders
Remove the nasty rear black fender with either undertail, fender eliminator or chop it off yourself!

Good luck and ride safe.

Re: Just bought an 01 929RR

just remember the Erion is the fastest so we'll have to go for a ride sometime (mine is lowered and I'm light as a feather so I'm faster )
glad you're getting rid of the D&D, you're gonna love the 2brothers, my friend had one on his 00 929 before it got stolen and I have a friend with a 954 who put on on his, they sound(ed) so nice, I love my Erion pipe, still kinda wish I had an Akro but the bike came with the Erion and I like it so I'm sticking with it.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

I don't know if an undertail takes away some of your storage but to me thats one of the great secondary things the bike has to offer, you can fit three 20ounce bottles in there plus some smaller stuff, I think you could fit a t-shirt over the 3 bottles but I haven't tried that yet but that gives you an idea of how much room you have in there.

Re: Just bought an 01 929RR

Actually the undertail according to some sites say it retains your stock storage space but IMHO they are overpriced. Sure they look great but for a piece of fibreglass and some misc hardware I don't see how it cost that much. Hotbodies is going for $189USD and the Targa is almost $249USD or something close to that last time I checked. Yes the rear storage space on the 929RR is amazing!!! You can store so much. My friend has a 03 600RR and since they have the undertail exhaust the rear cowl only holds the manual and nothing else! Its crappy!!!

The 929 is a great bike, what other sportbike u know of that can fit a footlong sub from subway in there?

I also have a D&D pipe and don't think its too bad.

And the Topline undertail is about $350.00.
On the 929 you don't loose any trunk space. I actually have a bit extra trunk space with the topline.

Re: Just bought an 01 929RR

Thanks for the replies all. Actually it has an undertail kit already on it but I'm not sure which one (has two small round break lights instead of stock, I will post pics after I pic it up from the stealership). As for the pipe, I'm interested in selling it to get an Two-Bros, D&D is just too loud for me and I can't attract any negative attention to myself is possible due to my career.
