Play in the throttle

I have a 1/4 inch or more of play in my throttle on my 929. How do I adjust it out?

Thanks,
Rip

Re: Play in the throttle

Near the throttle you'll see 2 cables. In-line on one of the cables has a nut tightened up against the adjuster. Loosen the nut, spin the adjuster. Check play again, repeat as desired. Tighten the nut once you've got it set. Might also want to check it again after you start the bike to make sure full closed is really fully closed.

Re: Play in the throttle

turn the bars from side to side to find the spot where the cable is the tightest and adjust the slack to near zero at that point.

Re: Play in the throttle

I had an excessive amount of play that the nut at the top wouldnt get rid of. In this case prop up your gas tank take off your air box there you will see the two cables where they come in contact with the throttle assembly. There you can take out much more slack if need be.. done that and now I have zero slop.

Re: Play in the throttle

Under the tank you adjust one cable and at the clipon you adjust the other cable. Most of the time you only need to adjust the one at the clipon, but like roadrash929 said, you might need to adjust the other cable too.
