954 frame slider question

Hi guys, I'm new here and have been reading a little bit.

I don't have a service manual yet for my 954 and was wondering what the torque specs for the engine mount bolts that hold the frame sliders on are? I've also seen a couple thing where people have stripped out the engine block putting on frame sliders .

I bought a set of the vortex 2 piece ones. Anything more I should know?

Thanks in advance guys
Luke

Definitely do a search of this site for experiences and such. One of the engine mount bolts is longer than the other and that is why some people have problems installing the sliders. I don't remember right off which bolt is supposed to be the longer but one of the previous posts about frame sliders for 954's mentions which is which. If you take the engine mount bolts out keep track of which side they came from then compare them to the slider bolts to see which side the slider should go on.

Re: 954 frame slider question

I bought the Pro-Tek sliders for mine. On the back they also tell you which one is for which side. ( 29 ft.lbs. TQ.) RE-TORQUE'em after a few miles/hrs of riding TOO!!

Re: 954 frame slider question

Thanks guys. The 954 is a sweet machine and I can tell already that there's going to be a plethora of information on this site. I have 580 miles on it now and it's ready for the initial service. I talked to a guy who used to work at a dealership and he was telling me that they only change the oil and adjust the chain. I figure I'll go over some of the bolts and stuff and make sure they're all snug...anything else I should check?

Thanks guys,
Luke
