More RPM?

Hi guys,

Making more HP is a hobby for me (beats starting a nasty drinking habit) and I would like to see if reprogramming the computer in my 929 was possible. I would like to raise the rev limiter 500 rpm. My current dyno run has the power still rising at a pretty good rate when the rev limiter kicks in. And no I will never begin to use the extra power to its full capabilities or anything like that, as mentioned above it is simply a hobby.

Thanks!

Re: More RPM?

I don't think you can reprogram the stock computer, but there is definitely more power to be unleashed with a full system and a power commander. My 929 has a full Arata system with a Powercommander and has been custom mapped. I have 146 actual hp. I think it's 138 SAE.

Re: More RPM?

I have to agree with hondagaltoo. I think the only way to change the rev-limiter is with a powercommander or like product.

Re: More RPM?

A power commander won't change the rev limit. You'd probably have to get an HRC kit ECU to do something like that. Read $$$$$!

Re: More RPM?

Yep, I looked into this and the only thing I figured would do it was finding an HRC box.

Re: More RPM?

I haven't had any luck at all finding the "black box" that will raise the rev limiter. I don't think anyone ever made one for the 929, that is why I wondered if it is possible to just re-program the stock computer.

The fact that no one was been able to do it when they were being raced and built, I would bet your going to be out of luck.

Ten Kate's WSBK CBR1000RR is still building crazy power when the rev limiter kicks in and Honda wouldn't give them the computer codes to change the limiter so they're just building an ecu themselves rather than getting an HRC unit. The thing is nuts, its at like 203rwhp and they're just using a power commander and custom map at the moment (not sure when the ecu is gonna be done or if it is done but last I heard was in the issue of Motorcyclist when they had a story about it)

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: More RPM?

Umm, I think Erion racing has an ECU for around 400-500 bucks. But I could be wrong.

Re: More RPM?

I did the mod posted here a few months ago about suplying 12V to a new pin in the ECU. It worked and I can rev to 13,200 now. The bike revs so fast it keeps me off the limiter and saved an upshift @ Pocono. I'm sure I have a few more unnecessary HP too.

Hi,
could you give me a little more info on how to do this?

Thanks!

Re: More RPM?

Here's the link.
https://www.fireblades.org/forums/sho...ht=rev+limiter

You add a wire to the blank Pin 17 and connect that to the 12V source, Pin 20 a black/white wire. Keep in mind, I have a 954 and the motor is more than capable of higher revs.
