Re: leaking oil on my 954

If your over filled the first thing to do is remove the excess oil, clean everything and see if it still leaks. Many times if an engine is overfilled liquid oil hits the crank and they will leak in places that they usually would never leak and the pressure can force oil past even good seals. Very very hard on an engine to run with too much oil in it.

The right side crankcase cover has no gasket. You use a liquid type gasket material when putting it back on. Honda sells what it originally came with.

It's called HondaBond, although Yamabond will work in a pinch . . .

Just kind of curious how much oil is too much? How much extra oil did it take to cause your leak?
