Re: Best brand for steel sprocket?
A little sprocket info:
Recently it has been rumored that Sprocket Specialists has filed Chapter 11. If this is true, Chapter 11 is just "re-organization". Chapter 7 is game-over. So they should stay in business for at least 90 days before there will be a decision whether or not to file 7 or continue.
That information goes hand in hand with a large number of people that I have heard of that have tried to order sprockets from them and had their orders delayed weeks or are even still waiting for the product. Some of these orders were made in September and even August. Backk about July I called Sprocket Specialists for a friends bike and they had to make the sprocket, they estimated a 4 week wait. They bike was apart in my garage so we went elsewhere.
Use them if you want to, I am not saying don't. Just saying you may get your stuff in a fair amount of time, you may end up sitting and waiting.
I personally only use Vortexracing.com and I have never had a problem with them, they have great customer service and they ship usually in 24 - 72 hours it seems.
Another place I keep hearing about is thrustcompany.com. I have never used their products yet but I know of a few people that have and they have had great transactions with them. They got the sprockets they ordered in less than a week and had great service as well.
Again, just a little info. and possibly a buyer beware.
