Disappointing Conversation Hindle Vs. Micron

Just got off the phone with a guy that runs a local bike shop and I'm very disappointed with a statement from him ....it wouldn't bother me as much as it does but I really respect the guy. He said the Micron Serpent (great system don't get me wrong) puts out 8 more horsepower than the Hindle full system at the top end. I'll give him 2 maybe but 8 Geez. Alot of the shops say that the Serpent is a natural choice for the Fireblade and they are correct but the Hindle is too.

I would have never known it save all the posts i've read here. If I hadn't read post after post dyno after dyno I would have believed him. Thanks for all the useful(and not so useful) info I get on this site guys.

I came here to chew bubble gum and to kick some ass...and I'm all out of bubble gum.

It's obvious this gentleman has:

A: Never dynoed a Serpent
B: Never dynoed a Hindle
C: Sells Serpents
D: All of the above

My choice is D . . .

Dan Kyle (you know, the guy that does this for real) published 3 dyno charts that were made after optimization on 3 different systems (The Hindle, The Serpent and the Arata). All three were within 2.7 HP and the Hindle had the smoothest curve (and most low end) of all of them.

Re: Disappointing Conversation Hindle Vs. Micron

I have a full; Hindle system I bought from one of the factory team riders in Canada (1 of 6 made) and wouldn`t trade it for anything

Re: Disappointing Conversation Hindle Vs. Micron

I'm not sure what this mechanic was smoking, maybe he tested a 954 with a Micron vs a 929 with a Hindle....

I've had both systems on my bike and the Hindle (slip-on) dynoed the same as the Micron full system but I then tried the Hindle full system (adding on just the headers) and I gained just under 2hp. I completely love the way the Hindle sounded as well...

is it just me or does anyone else think Micron systems are over-hyped and weigh more than they should...

Good question, does the Micron weigh more than the Hindle? I love my full Hindle.

I know it's an unfair comparison but I had a micron alloy can in red and a hindle titanium can.. the micron felt about 5 times heavier than the hindle, mind you, the hindle felt empty. Not sure if I got anything different but it was off a Honda Canada RC51 that was used during the 2002 season... may have been lighter? doubt it but ya never know

Well, that's your problem! The orange ones are much lighter. Or is it the purple? Rainbow?

yeah but you still gotta color match it to the bike to make the best power. the red one on a red bike will make more power than a blue one on a red bike

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

And this is why I got my HIndle, beside you CAN NOT beat the bang-for-the-buck you get with the Hindle.
