Gear shift question

My bike usually shifts pretty smoothly, but sometimes, shifting up into 4th and 5th, the shift lever seems to go about 3/4 of the way, stops, and then goes the rest of the way up. I can feel it down shifting from the same gears too. Is this a problem, or what? It seems less likely to happen if I shift at a higher RPM. Of course I don't feel it if I shift without the clutch. Thanks!!

Re: Gear shift question

Maybe you have corrosion in the shift lever pivot. Try disassembling it, clean it out and re-lube it. While the linkage is off, try shifting with just the rod, this will eliminate the shift lever from the problem.

Re: Gear shift question

Another thought is to preload the shift lever prior to and during the shift. That is, lift up on the shift lever prior to pulling the clutch lever in. This should make your shifts smoother and make your transmission last longer.
