Re: speedo wire for cbr900rr

For some reason I think the early 900's have some weird setup with the front tire. But I really don't know much about the early 900. I DO know my '98 has a 3 wire sensor from the top of the gearbox. If you remove the tank, it is directly below it (look straight down), mounted into the top of the housing, a little to the right of the starter. It will have a green wire, pink wire, and black wire. If I remember correctly, black was positive, green was the ground, and pink was the sensor signal from the sensor to the speedo.

I only know this because I recently installed a Yellow Box speedo recalibrator to compensate for my new gears.

But like I said, I'm not sure about those early models. And my service manual doesn't cover your year.

Re: speedo wire for cbr900rr

That is correct. The CBR 900 used a front wheel speedo unit until '97. Your cable will connect to one of the wheel spacers - I believe the left side, but it's not like it would be that hard to figure out, as there are only two to choose from.

My '95 had no cable, the electronic sensor was on the counter shaft sprocket.
