Re: penske remote reservoir

On my 929 I mounted the reservoir on one of the bolts the passenger peg would screw into, since I removed them. I did it on the side opposite the exhaust. HondaGal did the same on her 954, but she used a bracket of some sort she had laying around to ensure that it wouldn't come in contact with the rear hugger while hitting bumps. The bracket kept in just a bit outside of the subframe, rather than inline with it or slightly inside of it. There seems to be a bit less clearance with the 954 than the 929.

Re: penske remote reservoir

I think he's talking about the actual shock reservoir, not a preload adjuster.

Most guys with penske's fix it to the subframe somehow. I suggest putting it under there as it'll be fairly well protected in a crash.

Oh, ok, never mind, then! Since I have an Ohlins, I didn't realize Penske had another part that needed to be mounted somewhere.

yep its the reservoir, not just a preload adjuster. the only place to really secure it is the subframe, I'm just afraid of it making contact with the swingarm/undertail on big bumps. It sure doesn't seem to leave much room

Re: penske remote reservoir

Do you have the aluminum reservoir mount? The mount right up to the subframe (staggered off of the rear footpeg mount).

Re: penske remote reservoir

I have what penske supplied, two big hose clamps and two rubber cushions that go between reservoir and subframe. It seems like it would fit ok by the rear footpeg mount, but the supplied mounting parts wouldn't do the trick without cutting into my trunk which I would really like to avoid.

Re: penske remote reservoir

I think (could be wrong) that abtech is talking about the "one off" penske reservoir adapters a few RC51 guys got for their penskes made by one "dan kyle"...

I had one for my RC and it was sweet! Didn't want to hastle with the reservoir on my 600RR, so I got an ohlins.

Re: penske remote reservoir

****. I just had my forks done by DK and I asked him a few setup questions, and when I said I'm installing a penske, all he said was "don't" lol. If that was something he has I'd sure be interested.

He doesn't make them anymore, and when asked, he showed no interest in them...

Re: penske remote reservoir

Here ya go.

Use a steering damper fork leg clamp to hold the reservoir. Bolt it into the M8 hole shown in the attached drawing. Bolt the reservoir onto the passenger footpeg mount on the left hand side.

Baketech will knock you one up in necxt to no time.
