Fan temp???

Took my bike out for the initial ride of the season everything was all fine and dandy til I hit traffic.....maybe I just forget the way it is but once I stopped I watched my temp meter climb like a clock up to a high of 216 and I dont think the fan was on. Is this normal and I just forgot or is that a little high.

Coolant level =
Oil level =

Re: Fan temp???

The fan comes on at 212F. I have seen mine hit about 215F in heavy traffic.

Re: Fan temp???

212? Seems a bit low, my 600rr and my 1000rr both came on at 224. I guess the 954 is just a bit different. I can't remember how hot my gixxers got when they kicked on.

On a side note, if you kill a 954 with the fan on, will it continue to run with the key off like the F4I would or not?

Re: Fan temp???

I say check your fuse first then stat your bike and let it idle until the fan kicks in then you know at what temp it runs.

After 225 stop the dam thing ang plug the fan directly to see if it works .2c

Re: Fan temp???

Mine comes on at just over 100 degrees centigrade. The sensors are not that accurate..... The manual will tell you what range it shoud come on inside.........

Checked it today, when I sat for 1/2 hour in the drive-through at the bank. Fan on at 212F, fan off at 207F. Hit 216 2x.

Re: Fan temp???

mine comes on around 217 (I know its a 929 not a 954 but close enough). I hit 222 the other day and it was no warmer out than 50.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: Fan temp???

I did about 70 dyno pulls on a 954RR today and I noticed the fan usually 215-220

Sometimes it seemed that when I had the engine off and the key on the fan would come on earlier.
