Tire Question

I have a rear tire, Super Corsa that has about 2K street miles on it. It does have a pretty good flat spot in the center due to straight line riding (not worn past tread depth). Question is would you run this tire on a track bike for a track day or two? I realize the transition from the flat section to the round profile section would be a little abrupt. Does anybody have any experience or tried using a tire in similar condition. Just seems such a waste to discard the tire when the fun part of the tire hasn't been used. I know the best choice is to buy a new tire, but the budget is a little on the tight side.

Thanks!

Re: Tire Question

a supercorsa that has that many miles on it to be flat spotted and worn in the middle has way too many heat cycles on it to consistently grip at a track pace.

I'd replace it.

Re: Tire Question

You don't have to pitch that tire. You can remount it after your track day and continue using it.
