Wiring and Rear Shock Install

I installed the rear shock last night however this morning as I was putting things back together I noticed that where the shock is there are 3 wires or tubes - 2 (dark brown and black are the overflow tubes) however there is a third that is encased in a shiny black cover - this is either supposed to be there or somehow got stuck between the swingarm and engine (all the bottom 3 linkages etc are clear).

My question is what is this wire and how is it supposed to be attached - I am not sure if its stuck, not supposed to be there or OK.

Please help

tx
