MIL light

well my MIL light is on, not blinking or anything. It comes on after a while and sometimes doesnt lol. The FI light is on with it also. Someone told me it might be the servo motor on the exhaust going( a rock or something got into it and broke the gear) but my manual says its a loose service wire or faulty ECM, but the bike runs perfect. Any ideas or anything? PLease help thanx

Re: MIL light

Is it coming on while you're riding? According to the service manual

"The malfunction indicator lamp(MIL) will start
blinking only with the side stand down and with the engine off (enginestop switch in
RUN) or engine revs are below 5,000 rpm . In any other conditions, the malfunction
indicator lamp (MIL) will illuminate and stay on."

If it's intermittent, and you're not getting any codes, I would think it was a loose wire like the manual says.

Re: MIL light

so i should turn the ignition on, and read the blinks and get the code right? and it stays on during riding to tell me theres codes basically. ALso arent the FI light and MIL light basically one thing, like one cant go on without the other right? Ill go check the bike now

Re: MIL light

that sounds like whats happening with my bike. The light won't be on when I turn the bike on for the first time of the day but just up the street it comes on. Originally it gave me the code for the ECT sensor so I ordered one but then the next day it switched and gave me the code for the TP sensor. Haven't been able to figure out what the problem is so it's going in tomorrow to get checked. Also my servo motor makes noise and doesn't want to return fully to the 0 position. When I turn the ignition and kill switch to run the motor turns but then keeps trying to turn. I cna turn it back to where it should be by hand but then it just gets off again after riding.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

well the servo motor is tucked up underneath the back edge of the frame behind the engine on the left side. there are 3 little cables attached to it.
