PCIII USB Problems

I put a PCIII USB on my 2001 CBR929 about 6 months ago and everything seemed to be good, loaded a few different maps but stayed with one this site recommended for the 2001 CBR929RR (M104-023), ok now that I've had the bike for a while now I'm pushing it just a little father then before, feeling more comforable on the bike. I start to notice the bike cutting out around 8000rpms this happens in any gear the bike has only 5000 miles on it and the only thing I put on it was the PCIII so I unhook the PCII the bike runs better no missing at 8000rpms and runs smother around 2.5-3000rpms so I hook it back up load some different maps stock, zero all the maps does the same cuts back around 8rpms, is the PCIII USB bad?

Re: PCIII USB Problems

I'd call Dynojet and see what they say, but it sounds like your PC3 is bad to me.

Re: PCIII USB Problems

I found this from the Dynojet FAQ:

Q: I have had a Power Commander on my bike for quite a while and it has been running great. One day it just started running rough (like it was a cylinder was misfiring) so I disconnected the Power Commander and it went away. What could be the problem with the unit?

A: The most common problem we see with returned Power Commander is damage to the wiring harness. If the Power Commandersí wiring harness is cut or nicked by the frame or sharp bracket it can short to ground. Once this happens a number of symptoms may be present, overly rich running, hesitation, stalling, etc. We suggest very closely inspecting the harness for any signs of damage. Small cuts may be difficult to see. If any damage is found, you can simply retape that area, unless the wiring is significantly shorted.

You may also want to upgrade the software to the latest version, too.
