Oil change on 954 w/ full Hindle System?

I recently had a full hindle system put on my bike and am going to be changing the oil for the first time since then. I pulled all my plastic off etc, only to find that I cannot get the old oil filter off cause the new headers from teh hindle system are too close. Tried everything, the headers have to be moved. Is it ok to just unbolt my headers rigth behind the rad, pull it out...slap the oil filter on and then retighten them? Or would doing that require new seals or something? Would it be possible to unbolt the exhaust on the bottom of the bike and pull it down enough to move the headers out of the way? Or is that bad?

I'm not too mechanically inclined, so any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Unbolt the 2 allen bolts holding up the exhaust canister and the right footpeg. This will drop the system down at the rear about 4" and will move the headers out enough to get the filter off.

after my new Hindle install, I better be able to get to my filter or their getting a call. The claim is the headers shouldnt interfear with filter removal. Dont they do R&D on this stuff?

If you have the "correct" filter for the 929, you can do the change without unbolting anything. Some of the older filters were longer.

I asked the factory about that before I bought my Jardine: the exhaust is manufactured to provide optimal power - without compromise. They said many models aren't able to access their oil filters without loosening some bolts to move the exhaust.

Re: Oil change on 954 w/ full Hindle System?

WHen I first changed my oil filter after installing the hindle headers I ha this very problem too. There is a little head on the end of the filter so you could put a socket on it. I hacksawed the head off (it was hollow) and was able to remove it then. I can't remember what filter I used to replace the K&N but it did not have the bolt head and therefore fit on fine, a lil tight...but easy enough.

Buy an OEM filter and that should make it easier. The K&N filter is nice with the bolt on the end, but you can't use it with the Hindle, and sounds like some others.
