954 flapper

what is the final word on this mod? Has anyone dynotested it?

Does it increase low down torque and power or not?

Does it need compensation with PC3 map?

JakeT.

Probably need to test and find out...

Re: 954 flapper

just made my bike sound louder at lower RPM on acceleration. Didnt raelly notice any power difference, but im sure other guys will say the opposite and that it did give an increase.

Yes. It may result in increased torque/power with the correct map. It seems to be the thing to do (i.e. remove or disable the flap) when replacing the exhaust valve ("HTEV").

If you don't compensate for the removal of the flapper with a new fuel map, your bike will likely perform WORSE than with the flapper installed/enabled.

Re: 954 flapper

I found negligible power gains (if any) in the high RPMs after removing the intake flapper and I lost a LOT below 6000rpm. I put it back in and have been much happier. But, no, I didn't dyno test/tune to compensate.

When the servo pulls the flapper down: it's almost like removing it. Otherwise; the additional intake resistance improves your lower rpm torque.

The exhaust (HTEV) valve: gone. I'm much better without it.

The flapper creates a longer intake tract which produces more tourqe down low but could be a problem at higher revs, so then it opens to effectively shorten the intake tract to help with torque up top
