Warning 1000RR Owners.

To All,

While washing my bike on the weekend, 04 1000rr Australian, I noticed that the steel plate behind the front sprocket cover was a funny colour, closer inspection reveals that the entire steel plate is badly rusted. Took the bike back to the shop, who took photos and will be lodging a claim with Honda to replace the part.

I asked if they had seen any other cases like it, the reply was no.

Curious I went to the front of the shop and checked out the other 1000's x 5, All of them had the same plate rusting including the 05 blade which was their demo bike..

The plate appears to be a safety plate to prevent carnage if the chain were to come off the front sprocket, however there is a gasket on both sides of the plate which would indicate that there is something wet behind it..

You should check your bikes and get on to Honda.

Regards to All
