Re: New sprocket?

Usually you want to change them all at the same time. How many miles on the chain/sprockets?

Re: New sprocket?

Hi CJ550,

I did my chain and front sprocket only at around 27,000Kms - the rear sprocket was still in pretty good nick without any visible wear or damage...couldn't say the same for the front though - it was stuffed with pretty decent hooks on the teeth.

Not unexpected results given the rear sprocket has got a whole bunch more teeth than the front sprocket which shares the wear around.

ConqSoft is right though, the recommended approach is to change everything at once.

Cheers, Spanky.

Re: New sprocket?

...sorry, can't comment on the chain though - in fact I can't even remember what brand I put on my 929 - it was definately a 530 X-Ring though.

Re: New sprocket?

If you're gonna do the whole change do a gearing change aswell as the 520 conversion, probably won't even cost you a dime more.

-1 tooth in front
+2 teeth in back

520 108 link chain

Re: New sprocket?

What do you mean by a 'gearing change/520 conversion' , does it increase acceleration? Do i have to get different size sprockets to standard?
