1000RR Gripes?

I have been looking around for an upgrade to my current 01 GSX-R750... I wasn't looking to buy new, until Honda Australia decided to drop their retail price by about $3000 AU on their 1000RR (and equivalent reduction on the 600). Apparently this is in response to being beaten in sales by the R1 in the first half of the year.

I'm sure this completely sucks for those Aussies who forked out a lot more for their new bike a couple of weeks ago, but it it great for me.

Anyway, I'm almost completely decided on buying a new 1000RR (black) and was wondering if any of you could bring yourselves to comment on some of the negative things about the bike (if any)???

Re: 1000RR Gripes?

I think you have already one great machine, but you should love the RR. The seat is by far less confortable than a GSX, execpt for that everything else is better

Re: 1000RR Gripes?

I have a gripe about it. The seat height is way too high (as it is on most sportbikes). damn you tall bastards.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: 1000RR Gripes?

The seat is as hard as a plank, and the paint finish on the black bikes is shite. Ignition key mechanism needs a drop of oil in it every once in a while to keep it turning smoothly. If you ride hard, and on the track, the stock brakes fade after a few laps. Some braided lines and HH+ pads fixes that nicely.

No complaints about anything else.

Also, switching to a 180 section rear, and dropping a tooth on the front sprocket completely transforms the bike.

Re: 1000RR Gripes?

There is a small bobble in the throttle in first gear at low RPMs. The trunk sucks... oh wait there isn't one. Other than that I love mine after 10K miles still more all the time. Oh wait PLEASE light BOTH lights Honda

Re: 1000RR Gripes?

Just got back from another test ride (I am thorough if nothing else...)

Anyway, I would have to agree that the first thing I noticed was that the seat is very hard. That said, as soon I raised my feet to the pegs, It never occurred to me again.

I hit a highway, rolled it on a bit.., and thought that it was a might slow. Then I looked at the speedo and realised how wrong I was. I know on this forum I am preaching to the choir a bit, but it was deceptively quick

So I am convinced that I'll get one... Just have to decide on the limited edition Titanium colour, or the black???
