Exhaust Note on stocker

lately on my 1000RR, I've noticed a change in sound when I seem to get to half a tank of fuel or if I've been riding for a while. The sound is like a higher pitch almost two stroke-ish. After it sits for a while or I top her up with fuel, the sound goes back to normal.

Any opinions would be nice.

PS. It wont realy matter cause my ARATA is going on soon.

Re: Exhaust Note on stocker

I dead set thought I was imagining it!

It alsmost sounds like there is a different can on it. I tried it this morning and I rode it right through the rev range, but nothing. After about an hour of riding the sound changed....WTF???

Re: Exhaust Note on stocker

I might try riding with the cap open a bit and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for that.

But I'm still sure its coming from the can.

Re: Exhaust Note on stocker

Once you've been running for a while the baffles in your pipe will expand from the heat buildup, creating tension on the metal like tightening a guitar string. As the exhaust waves bounce off the stressed baffles they will vibrate at a higher frequency making almost a ringing sound.

**** I don't know I made all that up.

And then there's this asshole...

Re: Exhaust Note on stocker

Re: Exhaust Note on stocker

From post#2....your tank sits right next to the airbox. At certain volumes it can resonate with the intake and make a ringing sound....

There are a couple of guys on here that can probably gauge their fuel level by it...

Re: Exhaust Note on stocker

You might want to check your muffler bearings.
