Re: Best Gas Mileage

Man, you tree-huggin earth muffin! Wanting good gas mileage and all. Man, it's people like you that run the EPA and ruin it for everybody else. J/K man, I wish I got close to that good of mileage, but unfortunately, all my driving is done around town and on campus.

Re: Best Gas Mileage

I never got close to 50 on my 929. Best I've gotten on the XX was 40mpg.

Personally, I care only about range, not mpg.

Re: Best Gas Mileage

The best I got was just short of 400km (248.5miles) on a tank (including reserve)

I got to 330km and my light had not come on, figured maybe the light was blown and should fuel up anyway, after filling up I realised I still had enough left to get another 65km.

This was after my full hindle and PCIII were installed and mapped, and was on a freeway at what would have been about 120 - 130km/h (75 - 80mph) average speed, with the odd 60km/h (37mph) zone thrown in.

On the 929.

Obviously the better mileage you get, the more range you'll have as well... so of course they're related.

The distinction I'm making is simply this: I don't pay much attention to the day-in, day-out mileage my bike gets. I know I get between 125-135 miles range before my fuel light goes on and I've got another ~30 miles before I'm pushing.

Re: Best Gas Mileage

Maybe you should reprogram your light to extend your range by coming on at 100 miles to go?

Re: Best Gas Mileage

For Chain -- my range is now (50*3.7=) 185 miles before the reserve light come on. *

Re: Best Gas Mileage

56 mpg, riding in high elevations (5-11k). Usually get about 35-45 at normal elevations I ride at (under 3k).

Re: Best Gas Mileage

Getting better milage than a SV doesn't impress me. I ride with an SV all the time and the SV get's about 30-35 mpg.

My old SV was getting 55 mpg.

When gas prices were going crazy, I thought I must have been crazy to have sold the SV. But that was back when my CBR was getting 35-36. I'm now okay with all my decisions.

You must ride like that old goof andyauger did on SVRider.com's board.

Hey, in all seriousness, that's pretty impressive mileage. I'm nowhere NEAR judicious enough with my throttle hand.

Re: Best Gas Mileage

I got 50 mpg on one leg of my iron butt trip, but the average for the whole trip was right around 45 mpg. Normal commuting yields around 40 mpg, which is OK by me.
