WASHED MY BLADE and now it wont start

Hi all, I am a new member.

I own a cbr 900 rrr, and have not had any problems with it ever. Ok so I washed it about 3 weeks back, and tried starting it and nothing. Everything is working, fuel pump, starter, lights, indicators, and even sparking, but nothing. I checked everything with a multi-meter and all looks good. The engine turns over as long as I keep cranking it. But as soon as I let the starter switch go, the engine stops too. (only turns when pressing the switch). I am pulling my hair out. The only thing which is not powering is the rectifier. Could this stop the bike from starting ?? everything was fine until I washed it(what an idiot I am), no problems ever. But now the engine will not fire up. Please any help would be great !! many thanks.

Re: WASHED MY BLADE and now it wont start

I hate to be the guy that says kill switch...

I got caught with that last night. Went to start my blade up to blow the carbon out and it would just crank and crank and crank but no fire. Didn't take me too long to figure out what it was but I still felt like a tit.

And then there's this asshole...

Just to cover all bases I'd say get it dirty again and then see if it starts. If it does, the problem is obvious

Re: WASHED MY BLADE and now it wont start

Ok heres the update. I have checked all points on the bike.

Its NOT the KILL switch,
Fuel pump is working,
Ignition pulse generator is working,
Starter motor is working,
God-damn everything is working that should be.
Ignition spark coils are working fine too.

Anyone have any ideas ?? I am pulling my hair out. Please help. The only thing that I do not know how to check properly is the Ignition control module. Does anyone know how to test it ?? Many thanks. P.S. If this fails I better get ready to dig deep into my pockets. The bike is getting fuel, spark, and air. Whats wrong ???

Ok, lets go back a bit. Just how did you wash the bike? (i.e. pressure washer, etc)

Could it be you got water in the fuel tank? Or in any other place where it would cause this problem. Just a guess.

Bikes and women - both have nice curves.

Well, let's see. The first post was made over a month ago and it says he washed it 3 weeks before that. So I would guess it's had about 2 months to dry out.... Is it me or do people quite often not read the fukken posts before they start asking questions to which the answers are in the post they just supposedly read?

I think I worded that correctly...

next time you wash it get a spray bottle of spray on wax and windex forget the damn pressure washer and all the other stuff that just makes everything wet..... all by hand takes more time but the results are much better~

Re: WASHED MY BLADE and now it wont start

Well you need two things for your engine to work, a spark and fuel. make sure your getting both of those and you should be good. If that still doesn't work then i would try and find someone with a manul for your bike and see what it has in the troubleshooting section for bike not starting.

also try jump starting it. if that works then its most likely your battery, stator, or rectifier. Let us know if you get it working.
