Electrical problem

Today i went to start my bike and the battery was dead, so i hooked up to another battery with jumper cables, the bike started then died cause its cold out, well the battery i was using started to drain and i unhooked it and went to look for another battery, i couldnt find a good one, so i hooked up the battery back up, but this time my dumb ass hooked the cables up backwards, i tried to start it then realized it was on wrong, so i hooked it up the right way and none of the electrical stuff turned on nor would the engine turn over, whats the deal, my cousin did this to his car and he fried his computer on it but all the electrical still worked, what could be the problem,

Re: Electrical problem

You might have blown the main fuse.

Re: Electrical problem

I'm not sure. Not familiar with the older RR's. Try looking at the parts fiche here: www.ronayers.com

Re: Electrical problem

Might not been a fuse. Fuses don't care one way or the other how electricity flows through them. Help me out here peeps, that is a carbed bike, does it even have a computer on it? Not that familiar with bikes of that age and having computers. Check the fiche for a diode in your electrical system. Sometimes they are in the stator. If it is down in the stator this shouldn't have affected your lights and things. It just maybe that there isn't enough juice period in this battery to even turn on your lights.

Re: Electrical problem

Main fuses are usually located next to the battery under the seat in a little holder all their own. Start here, it's the cheapest fix.
