?'s for those who've replaced their stator cover...

I need to replace the engine cover on my 954 and have a simple question...What did you guys use to remove the factory gasket from the case? I have the regular razor blade type gasket remover, but didn't know if it would be too harsh for the aluminum block. Thanks in advance- James

Razor blade, and be careful.

Also, if you've never done one before, you'll find the magnet is very strong. As long as all the bolts are out, just pull or pry hard.

Yeah, be very careful with a blade. Get some of that gasket remover spray and stuff a rag in the case. Give it a good spritz and wait a few minutes. Rub it off with a scotch-brite.

Be sure to buy a new gasket for it instead of using gasket maker. I've heard that the gasket not only acts as a seal, but also properly spaces the cover to avoid interference.

Don't forget to disconnect the battery, and you'll need some RTV Blue to seal around where the wires go in. As others have said, buy a new Honda gasket.
