Mirrors or No mirrors

After ten years of riding my blade with mirrors removed, I decided that safety was paramount and re-installed them.

It is good to see where you have just ridden from, and great to see if there is danger behind. But the bike looks so damn ridiculous with them on.

My son thought they looked like mickey mouse ears. To me they look like wild antlers.

Can you guys help me out here? Should they stay or should they go?

Would you rather have your son laughing at/with you or crying over you?

Re: Mirrors or No mirrors

I rode without mirrors for just a few days on the street before i put them back on.. On the street I wouldn't do without them...

edit: i have to agree with you on the look but the safety part of it can't be overlooked.

Re: Mirrors or No mirrors

I just installed a set of bar-end mirrors on my 929. What a difference! The visibility is great and the bike looks fantastic. I got mine at Cycle Gear here in Phoenix, but Lockhart Phillips has them as well. The mirrors are convex (3") and are billet aluminum. Cycle Gear had them for $60.00, Lockhart for about $80.00. I've seen them on E-Bay as well. Good Luck!

Re: Mirrors or No mirrors

i would think that bar end mirrors look retarded. i dont mind mirrors on the bike, their purpose is well suited and the looks dont bother me much. i ride with no mirrors because i have no upper fairing...

Re: Mirrors or No mirrors

You'd end up with a $40 ticket without mirrors out here.

You're on a streetbike. It's supposed to have mirrors on it, regardless of looks.

Re: Mirrors or No mirrors

You've already figured out that they're paramount to safety, so leave 'em on!
The stock ones on my 929 look a lot better than many other stock mirrors out there, IMO.

Re: Mirrors or No mirrors

I ride with people that have the bar ends. They say you can see better cause your elbow isn't taking up half the mirror.

But aren't the bar end mirrors a bit low? I guess they are as low as a car's. It just seems weird.

Same reason to keep turn signals separate from the taillight and actually pointing forward and rearward(not flush).

Re: Mirrors or No mirrors

I just carry a convex shaving mirror in my left hand. Not so much for safety, but it lets me admire how cool I look riding my motorcycle.

And then there's this asshole...

Re: Mirrors or No mirrors

I finished putting my bike back together yesterday and took it out to make sure I had burped the coolant correctly. Didn't put the mirrors back on because I wanted to get it done before it got dark.

Lesson learned: I will never ride without mirrors on the street again. I didn't like not being able to see where the retards were.

Re: Mirrors or No mirrors

I sure wish a better solution was out there because they sure are ugly but I don't know how you could ride with out them. I feel lost not being able to see back.
