'99 919 question

Hi, i just got '99 cbr900rr, sold my 97 cbr900rr last month. The new bike came with derestricted oem muffler. It's a free flow design(a straight pipe with holes around the pipe) and it's extreemly loud. Anyone know how to fix this without buying a new oem muffler? If I reduce the inner pipe diameter would the noise reduced? The power is reduced too, or maybe the power comes on high rev?
All i want is a nice sound and power.
Anyhelp would be appreciated.

Re: '99 919 question

I had a straight through - the design does reduce noise, putting a sleave in would probably make it louder and reduce power - I'd get another can, perhap blueflame or something with removalbe baffles. OEM will be expensive unless you get one off ebay or a breaker or something. My straight trough wasn't too noisey to be honest, but much louder than stock can for sure - I for one like a nice sounding exhaust note
