Opinion on 2006 CBR1000RR please

Hi all,
I am new on the thread. I have been owning several sportsbikes (GSX-R600, 750, 1000, and CBR600RR). I also had the chance to make a couple of rides on the 954RR, in the past, and on the 2005 1000RR. I have loved the Gixxers, especially the 750 and 1000 and I loved the CBR1000RR. This for several reasons: Despite ultra fast bikes, they were rock solid and stable. I really did not like the 954 only for the reason it was so easily upstet in corners, therefore not so confidence inspiring. Too bad because it has other good qualities. In several tests, they say that the 2006 CBR1000RR has lost its stability and confidence inspiring. I would like to hear from you guys who own it and that rode the 2004 and 2005 as well. I would also like to hear what you have to say about the bike in general. Your feedback would be great!
Keep riding!
Pat

A lot of what makes the CBR1000 so great on the road is the smooth and predictable throttle response, that has not changed.

Also if you want something that stays on the line like a rock ride an RC

Must obey the sheep dog

Re: Opinion on 2006 CBR1000RR please

my wife and I have owned many bikes, most recently I ride an '01 RC51 and my wife rode up until yesterday an '01 929 Erion. We traded her Erion for an '06 1kRR and she said it felt funny for a few miles. She said the front didn't feel stuck and she felt it hard to get on the throttle mid corner. After a few more miles she decided that this feeling was a couple things:
1. mostly in her head, as she after my urging grabbed some throttle on a corner and said it felt great
2. the fact that the 1kRR has 20 more hp and a boatload more torque than the 929 which made throttle control pivotal as well as the front seem light.

Compared to the 929 (and 954) the 06 has a slightly more agressive position (somewhere etween the 954 and the RC), enough more power to make the 929/954 seem like they belong in the 750 class and smooth enough power to get you going way faster than you thought it could (and remind you that maybe WE should be in the 750 class..lol).
It's a great bike and if my mind doesn't change in the next week I just may trade my RC for one.

Re: Opinion on 2006 CBR1000RR please

My last bike was an 01 929 and I have ridden the 954 and the 05 CBR1KRR. I just bought the 06 CBR1KRR and all I can say is that it has all the power of the 04-05 CBR1KRR but feels much lighter and nimble, like the 954. The only problem is that on Friday night, while we were loading the bikes on the trailer to go to Deal's Gap, I tore my left hamstring and won't be able to ride for at least a month.

Thanks bro, i thought so

But is the reach to the bars same as 04-05? And the tank's bigger or same size? And is the engine braking same like 954? Coz my 954's engine braking is MUCH less than my previous F3 n i like it very much. It's kinda a 2-stroke machine. Adn wat abt the brakes, same like 954?

Sorry so many questions but for sure thanks bro!

i agree with u bro. i parted with my cbr929 last month and bought myself a cbr1krr a few days ago. the throttle response n power delivery is so smooth and assuring. the slightly enlarged disc brakes are awesome and grippy compared to last year's bike.

still in the running in stage though. cant be too generous on the throttle.

Honda inginuity, craftmanship, and reliabilty. Less power than the other liter bikes mean a little better control in novice hands. But dont get me wrong, it can and will bite the sh!t out of you, Idiots must beware.

Re: Opinion on 2006 CBR1000RR please

Currently I own an 05 1kRR and it is phenomenal. Recently I took out the 06 for a run and in all truth I dont notice a difference .... cornering stability and power seem pretty much the same.
The handlebars are I believe a little closer now. Tank felt to be the same size.

If I trade up for a 07 Ill go the route of the repsol.... Im a sucker for that scheme. Its pretty!

performance wise you cant go wrong. for that casual street or the track.

Re: Opinion on 2006 CBR1000RR please

I own a 2002 CBR954RR and a 2006 CBR1000RR. Believe it or not, I like the 954 better because it practically steers itself, is very user friendly, inspires confidence, is lighter than the 1000 and therefore requires far less steering input in cornering.

Take the flappers out and the 1000rr suddenly becomes unstable, yet surprisingly confident.

Re: Opinion on 2006 CBR1000RR please

Well I tell you .... Im sitting here at my cabin overlooking the lake, in Chester CA a stones throw and 70 miles of twisties to Chico, Staring at my 05 1k, sipping a frosty beer, and thinking..... does life get any better then this... Oh and .... the handle bars are a little closer on the 06 than 05. The 06 feels and is lighter but power delivery still feels the same.. and extrememly stable. I dont think you can go wrong with either...
for what its worth.

Re: Opinion on 2006 CBR1000RR please

That is true: they are both great bikes. The only thing annoying to me regarding the CBR1000 is the "Twilight Zone" between idle and 3,000 rpm. I test drove a '07 CBR600 and the same Twilight Zone is there too. There is nothing better in life than effortless acceleration, which is why I could never go back to a 600-class machine. Enjoy!
