The 929 did NOT have a recall on head bearing. The 954 did NOT have a recall on them, either.
There was enough whining about the quicker steering of the 954 that they decided to offer a service campaign to exchange the upgraded tapered roller bearings in the 954 for older tech ball bearings, like were in the 929. This only affected the first 6 months or so of 954s.
Some chose to downgrade, others did not.
Yes, some frames had some metal shavings in them, some had a lot, some had none.
Honda never admitted to any frame issues on the bikes, and there was never a recall or service campaign on them.
