CBR900RR cam timing

Hi, doesn anyone know how to set the cam timing on this motor . I set the timing mark on the cam cover and set the top marks like i was told by someone intake (----- and exhaust ----) away from each other but when i put tension on the timing chain with the tensioner and try to turn the motor over with a socket and ratchet , the motor will only turn a little , kinda acts likeone of the pistons is hitting a valve, anyone have any idea? diagrams would be great, The original problem was a blown head gasket
