If you can bump start the bike, it should not be a problem as far as electrical goes past the starting circuit. The buzzing isn't going to be the starter. That's more than likely the starter solenoid. The starter solenoid is an electronic switch that requires a certain amount of voltage to work. The large amount of power the starter motor takes drops the voltage and the solenoid turns off. Once it turns off, there is no load on the battery and the voltage goes back to normal. Thus, the cycle starts over.
Basically, you didn't have to read that. Just buy a new battery and be happy. You can check to make sure it's not the battery by:
1. jump starting - you elimate the batt. If that fixes it, you found the prob.
2. Bump starting it and ride - if the bike dies as you ride, it's not charging it's self. That will lead to the battery dieing. If it dies, you will also need a new stator assembly. (hope it doesn't die)
