929 blade will not turn over

I removed my battery to get it charged at a garage. Now that its back in my bike wont start. With the ignition on and killswitch on run i hear the fuel pump come on but when i press starter all i get is a buzzing sound form the starter unit just behind battery. I've tried refitting the battery but no change.
Anyone got any ideas

Bad battery? Try replacing it...

Re: 929 blade will not turn over

battery reads 12.5V and is the correct one for the bike. I'm thinking its the battery as well now since even putting indicators on causes the display to go for a second.
Going to garage today to try new battery...I'm able to bump start bike so i'm hoping that what it is.

Re: 929 blade will not turn over

The start engine consumes a lot of power. If the voltage downs under 11.5 volts when you are pushing the start button the motorcycle will not start and you are consumming the batery charge. You need to replace the batery.

Re: 929 blade will not turn over

If you can bump start the bike, it should not be a problem as far as electrical goes past the starting circuit. The buzzing isn't going to be the starter. That's more than likely the starter solenoid. The starter solenoid is an electronic switch that requires a certain amount of voltage to work. The large amount of power the starter motor takes drops the voltage and the solenoid turns off. Once it turns off, there is no load on the battery and the voltage goes back to normal. Thus, the cycle starts over.

Basically, you didn't have to read that. Just buy a new battery and be happy. You can check to make sure it's not the battery by:

1. jump starting - you elimate the batt. If that fixes it, you found the prob.

2. Bump starting it and ride - if the bike dies as you ride, it's not charging it's self. That will lead to the battery dieing. If it dies, you will also need a new stator assembly. (hope it doesn't die)

Re: 929 blade will not turn over

Have you tried giving it a treat or maybe asking it nicely.

No really, the bump start method will work but keep in mind that if the voltage in the batt is extremely low the bike may start that way but may not run right. Always start with the easy stuff, grap a new battery.
