BIG PROBLEM WITH MY ERION

When I start my erion and ride the first few minutes, the gauge works fine. After a few minutes, the red light and F1 light comes on solid, and the speedo, odometer stops working. I changed the main harness yesterday and swapped gauges with my boy and the problem didn't go away Can someone please offer a suggestion? I'm hoping to sell this bike very soon and get the blue/yellow 1000. So far I've spent about 500 bucks on this problem. I even took it to a honda dealer and was told that one of my wires didn't match their schematic and therefore they couldn't go any further with the test. (so they charged me 175 bucks for labor). I did have them check the sensor and they said it was working fine.

Re: BIG PROBLEM WITH MY ERION

Are you getting any codes from the ECM? With the ignition switch on, engine stop switch in the run position, put the side stand down and see if you get the MIL light to blink. If not, you can try reading the ECM's memory for prior codes. To do that, you need to remove the seat. Short the service connector with a wire (paper clip works good), and turn the ignition on. If there ares self diagnostic codes in memory, it should blink.

Re: BIG PROBLEM WITH MY ERION

With the kickstand down and the ignition on, there's no light. But, after riding with the red light and F1 light on, when I put the kickstand down the red light starts to blink.

Re: BIG PROBLEM WITH MY ERION

thats the code he's talking about. long blink=10, short blink=1.

example: long blink, long blink, short blink, short blink= 22

if you don't have the service manual, post the # and someone will tell you what it is.

Re: BIG PROBLEM WITH MY ERION

So far I disconnected the sensor and checked the harness side of the plug for voltage and everything looks good. My manual suggests to replace the ecm and re-test again. Before I do that, I want to get the test harness. I don't know why I ever took it to the dealer.

Re: BIG PROBLEM WITH MY ERION

1 long, 1 short is 11.

• Loose or poor contact on vehicle speed sensor connector
• Open or short circuit in vehicle speed sensor connector
• Faulty vehicle speed sensor

When you checked the harness side for voltage, did you get 12v between the black/brown (pos) and the green/black (neg)?

Re: BIG PROBLEM WITH MY ERION

I just replace my speed sensor and the old one had cracks on both mounting tabs. Could this have caused my problem? Also, is there supposed to be oil on the sensor? I'm assuming so since it's hooked up to the engine.
