929, uncomfortable seat?? what to do...?

Ok, so there has got to be plenty of other people here who have trouble on long rides with the stock seat on the 929. I can ride for about 45min to an hour and then my butt hurts.

What has everyone else done? I hear the corbin seats are nice, however out of my price range

Let me know what has been done!

Buy a pair of spandex bicycle shorts that have a gel insert, it will help quite a bit. You can also take your seat to an upholstery shop and have some of the foam shaved and replaced with a gel insert. Shorts are probably your most cost effective solution. You could just suck it up and deal with it too. That seat really isn't that hard

O yes it is!! Painfully so on 2+ hour rides

Gel shorts, haha, does that help pick up chicks too?? Reminds me of that episode of king of the hill...lol I was hoping to find a gel type seat overlay or something...no shops offer anything like this??

Re: 929, uncomfortable seat?? what to do...?

I wouldn't know about the chicks But I do wear the shorts under a pair of basketball shorts that I have on under my leathers and they do help.

Airhawk also makes a seat cushion, but it's pricey from what I can remember. 2ohoh2 and Chain have both had them I think.

EDIT: A quick search turned this up https://www.fireblades.org/forums/rid...k+seat+cushion

cheapest solution is to deal with it by moving around more on the bike.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: 929, uncomfortable seat?? what to do...?

You could also try replacing the stock seat with a Corbin or Sargent...

Re: 929, uncomfortable seat?? what to do...?

Do it yourself cheapest solution: Take the seat cover off, add a 1 inch thick piece of low density foam and staple the cover back in place. That's what I did on the RR and it help more than I thought it would

Re: 929, uncomfortable seat?? what to do...?

An hour on the 929 with a passenger is about all thet can be expected. Sorry, it was never intended as a Goldwing. I have long since took the passenger pegs off the 929 and bought a 919. Even at that, we stop every 45 minutes or so. If I'm solo, I can drain the tank on either bike. I stand up frequently.

Put 1000 miles on in a weekend on a 1000RR and I promise you you won't think that your seat is that uncomforatable at all...

Re: 929, uncomfortable seat?? what to do...?

lol damn honda and their lack of comfortable seat building skills

Jetdude: great idea! I think i'll pick up a spare seat and try that for sure! I've even found some semi-cheap gel pads that i could probably cut up and fit in..
