very urgent 929

ok i know this has been talked about but this is wired

i just replaced my collant i thoought that the fa nwas turning on kinda too high at 110 so i thought that chaninging the coolant would of help keeping the temp a bit lower

but i relised it didnt now i see my temp idle jumping from 87 to 135
125 then 110
and my speedo keeps flashing
and that all when im on the highway when i slow down in high way traffic
i thought that it should never g that high
i used watter wetter with lil radiator coolant and water

ppl told me its ok to mix

but the problem is that my termostat should be working cause the temp keep playing there fore the termostat works
but is it a sensor ??? or a fan sensor ??
anyone got an idea ?
or suggestion before i take it to garage and pay crazy money ??

Re: very urgent 929

sounds like air in the system. take the radiator cap off, turn the bike ona nd let it get up to temp all the way to when the fan turns on. the engine will suck in all the fluid and release the air, top off as the level in the radiator goes down.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Unfortunately, the thermostat resides in the nether regions behind and below the carb banks. If i'm not mistaken, it requires air box removal for sure to access the thermo. Follow the line out of the water pump that heads up towards the back of the motor and you should be able to spot it. The fact that your fan is coming on but the bike is still overheating is a good indicator that it's the thermostat. Sorry, no pics, but microfiche can be accessed through the ron ayers website (ronayers.com).

Good luck.

Re: very urgent 929

Also, if you only put a little bit of anti-freeze in the coolant, it could be boiling inside the motor. This would make the thermostat go erratic. Anti-freeze also works as an anti-boil. Keep a 50/50 mix summer and winter. It's important for proper cooling, viscosity, and heat conductivity.

I hope this is the problem for your sake. Good luck.

Re: very urgent 929

I'm not sure exactly what you mixed together but either go 50/50 coolant(antifreeze)/distilled water mix or water and water wetter. I don't know if you can mix water wetter with coolant(antifreeze) but it probably says it on the bottle.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.
