No, nor do we know the weight. 50/50 shot, they are doing this because it will exceed our expectations, or because they are covering their ass.

Re: WELL how much Horsepower does it have?

this is a post about the bike from another msg board, but sure sounds interesting!

I got a call to do a job like any other last week.
When I showed up at the track, guess what I saw, the Honda Racing Team truck, Ben Bostrom and Miguel Duhamel.......standing next to the new 'Mil'. That's what they were calling the new Honda 1000cc.
Man! did I have a smile on my face, now days very little faces me at work, don't really get starstruck by anybody (almost) or anything, but this time I was like a little kid at a candy store.
Obviuosly I was not allowed to take any pictures of it and we all signed the standard 'non-disclosure' agreement that we sign at every 'new model' car/bike shoot, and I wasn't able to get any pictures with the guys because we had a very hectic schedule to keep, but I can tell you this (without getting into trouble), you will want this Honda over the R1, just wait before you go rushing into any deposits for a Kawi, R1 or Mille R Factory, just wait for it and you'll know what I mean.
Then again, I am a Honda man so I'm extra bias, but....

I've seen 160 SAE HP (crank) mentioned, but not from an official source.

Is a paradigm worth 20 cents?

That isn't correct, or it doesn't sound viable to me. That would put it at 143RWHP after drive loss, and Honda themselves said they would at least = GSXR1k power. Looking at that radiator, me wonders if that isn't 160RWHP they are referring to Who cares, it's all a bunch of nonsense until a zine gets one and puts it on their dyno. DK will probably get one or as soon as they do.

So it looks like finally the gixxer 1k will be surpassed on hp.

Is the gixxer 1k staying the same for 04?

That remains to be seen. There's alot of marking BS from all the manufacturers and as has been stated several times, nobody will know for sure until the comparos come out.

and

I haven't heard definatively for sure...probably have info over the weekend.

Re: WELL how much Horsepower does it have?

My friend's cousin dated a Honda marketing guy who overheard an engineer at the water cooler say that it makes <dr.evil> 1.2 bazillion HP</dr.evil>.

Re: WELL how much Horsepower does it have?

I find all of this interesting, as even a 954 with a proper CAI/RAM system can get to the mid 150s with a pipe and PC3. Does anyone think the new bike will make less HP than the 954? I don't.

What no one has commented on (and this is a much bigger change than anything else that has been commented on) is that Honda has redesigned the chassis so it now has a full frame and the swingarm no longer connects directly to the engine. If the swingarm length is even close to the 954, that means the engine has been shortened considerably (or made narrower to accommodate the frame extrusions). Expect very small figures for the weight on this bike . . .
