Just got a 929 - is something wrong?

Greetings! I'm new to the forum - been looking for a while and finally decided to join. There's some great info here!

I just switched from a 600 Ninja to a 929 and at first I thought I'd made the right choice but now I'm startin to wonder. This bike gets very, very hot when I ride. I can feel the heat through my pants and have to move my legs away from the bike at times. Is this normal? It's very uncomfortable. I bought the bike from a private owner - I am worried!

What does the temperature gauge tell you?

Re: Just got a 929 - is something wrong?

I had a 929 for four years. Great bike.
Mine would run at between 80 and 85 degrees centigrade (~175 - 185) when on the move, even in hot weather. At a stand-still it would get up to over 100 (212) before the fan kicked in. I never saw it go over 105 (220).

Re: Just got a 929 - is something wrong?

like Jump said Mine also runs around 180 F give or take and in town with starts and stops I never had seen it above 221 F. I believe over heating on it is 251 F but I'm not positive. In town you can really feel the heat. To help put your mind to ease I love the 929 it's a real fun bike to be on.

As long as it doesn't get over 225F, you're fine.

Where in Ohio?

Re: Just got a 929 - is something wrong?

Thanks Everyone. I've been looking at the temp and it stays around 200-215. From what I hear that is pretty high. But I am riding in the city. When I am on the highway it's around 180-190. I will certainly keep my eye on it. Other than the temp thing I am lovin this bike. Much smoother highway ride than my Ninja and it gets lots of compliments!

I'm in Dayton.

pants with knee pads will help keep your skin away from the hot frame. you won't even notice the heat then. so even when you're trying to be funny you give good advice.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: Just got a 929 - is something wrong?

I find wearing leather pants help keep me from feelin the heat as bad.. jeans don't insulate ya as much and my right knee tends to fry on hot days LOL...

as for temp range same as others.. easily 200 - 220 on a warm day.. as long as your fan kicks in and keeps it from going much beyond 225 you're fine

welcome to the family and enjoy your new baby...
