Chain for 929

Finally time for a new chain! what length should i get?, i went 1 down up front and +2 in the rear. I know couple of you said to get a x-ring chain
And not to use a clip style master link. Do the ones with the 8mm bolts work well trying to avoid spending 200+ to replace my chain! Thanks in advance

Re: Chain for 929

concur on doing the 520 conversion if you have to change, but sounds like you already have the gears. definitly go with an x-ring chain, also stake the master link, and either DID or RK is going to be a high qaulity chain, and whoever is selling it can tell you the # of links. i did the -1 in the front and don't know the # for -1/+2

Re: Chain for 929

ratios end up being slightly different: 15/45= .3333333 and 16/43= .372093

i have really never undestood the +2 in the back because it seems to negate what has been done to the front, but have never ridin that set up so have no opinion.

Climb on your mountain bike and set the chain on the largest ring up front and the smallest ring on back. Attempt to start riding.

Then switch the front down one ring up front. Attempt to start riding. Feel the acceleration difference?

Then switch the rear up two in the back. Attempt to start riding. Feel the acceleration difference?

-1/+2 will make you
