Re: Low fuel light

My low fuel light keeps coming on. I filled up and 15 miles later the light came on. It then went off. But every once in a while it will come on, stay on for about 5 miles and then go off. It has been doing it more often lately.
Does anyone have any ideas??

Re: Low fuel light

Sounds like the sending unit may be on its way out.

Are you banking the bike a lot when this happens? If the fuel level is high, (like more than 3 gallons), and this happens in straight-up riding, I would have the thing looked at by the dealer if under warranty.

Re: Low fuel light

The sending unit is part of the fuel pump assy and just slides into a clip that is part of the fuel pump bracket. Mine didn't seem to be all that snug and seemed to me that it could slide up and/or out of the clip under the right circumstances. Might be worth a look. If it has slid up in the clip, it will prematurely trigger the idiot light.

Re: Low fuel light

This doesn't help you with your low fuel light problem, but I am annoyed that the reviews I have read of the European version comes with a fuel guage on the digital display, here in the 'States we have a light!!!!!!!

Yeah Euros always get the cool stuff for some reason. No idea why we can't. Would be a nice feature. Hopefully we get the cool stuff on the new 1000, like the steering damper.

Re: Low fuel light

Obviously that is why most call them 'idiot lights' as they have aimed them at us North Americans. LOL

Re: Low fuel light

I have the euro version 929 or Fireblade as it is called in europe and it does not have any fuel guage. Just a light on the tach. Which works fine along with my trip meter I can more or less tell how much fuel i got.

What happened? Did you run out of gas without the light coming on?

Well considering it comes on with .8 or so left, and it holds 4.8, 3.6 gallons from full isn't going to set off the fuel light.
