Re: Stripped Threads

I have a problem. *I was putting the rotors back on my front wheel and before I got them tight one of the bolts that I was tightening stripped the threads in the wheel (not the bolt). *What is the best thing to do here. *I put some loctite 609 retaining compound on the bolt and tightened it as best I could. *Is there any other way besides buying a new wheel if the loctite doesn't hold? *Thanks

Re: Stripped Threads

Is it ok just to drill the hole out a little bigger and put a little bigger screw which may require drilling out the rotor a bit?

Re: Stripped Threads

You go and buy a helicoil kit for a 6x1.0mm thead and drill it out with the bit it comes with and re-tap it then insert the helicoil.

Re: Stripped Threads

Thank's to everyone with the help. For future reference you can purchase the 6 X 1M Helicoil kits at Advance Auto, Kit number 55466 for 26.99 + tax. It worked great, my problem is solved. Thanks Again.
