How long do I sit at stoplight?

I'm sure traffic laws vary state to state, but as a rule of thumb, how long do I have to wait at a stoplight that doesn't "see" me before I can just run it?

Re: How long do I sit at stoplight?

Meaning when I'm sitting at a red light and it doesn't turn green for several changes because the sensors in the street aren't tripped by my 'Blade. I know there are electronic RF boxes you can install to make the sensors pick up a motorcycle, but I wanted to know if there's a legal definition for how many changes you have to wait before (safely!) going through the red light.

Two light cycles, and you're free to go typically.

But that's just me. I'm impatient.

Turn right on red and pull a u-turn easier to explain if you get pulled over. One way is your word the other is also but shows you made an effort

Must obey the sheep dog

That's exactly what I'd do too!
Safer too.

Bikes and women - both have nice curves.

Re: How long do I sit at stoplight?

One of the lights by my house never picks up my bike. Since I am turning left, I never get to count light cycles. it is a smart light. I usually wait for the song I am listening to to finish, then roll if its safe.

Re: How long do I sit at stoplight?

I think that law varies from state to state. I 'want' to say in Arizona it is 2 full cycles assuming the light is changing for cross moving traffic. But it's best to ask a police officer in your neck of the woods.

Most signals have the trip in the pavement. Put the kickstand down and leant the bike on it. Has worked ever time.

Best to wait until the friendly officer hiding behind the building watching you comes over and escorts you to safety.
