Re: 929/954 Front end

I just got quoted $1800 (AUS) for the complete front end for a 929.

I plan to get a k-tech fork kit for it, got quoted $1000 (AUS) for that.

$2,800 (AUS) so $2156(US) for a super schmick fully sic race ready front end.

(That kit comes with everything, pistons, valves, rubbers, new adjusters etc etc)

Re: 929/954 Front end

i hope i don't have to spend a $1000. if i do i will prabab;y end up just buying a salvage 929/954/RC51 bike at auction and using the parts and parting it out and hopefully breaking even

Re: 929/954 Front end

I have 02 954 forks on my 95 900RR. I hated the 3 spoke front wheel, so I fitted a 2001 RC51 SP1 6 spoke front wheel. It looks the goods!!

I'm an Aussie now living in Melbourne, but I bought my 900RR and 954 forks in America when I lived in Detroit for 6 years. I bought the forks last year. Here were the prices if I remember correctly:

Forks, axle, upper and lower triples: USD$440
new fork seals: USD$25
Rotors/discs: USD$150
RC51 wheel: USD$230
Wheel powdercoating $80
954 bearings: USD$25
954 wheel spacers: USD$20
954 calipers $60
954 clip ons $110
BST carbon fiber fender: USD$180

So, there's USD $1320 right there - about AUD $1780! (ouch!).

Cheers,
Simon

Re: 929/954 Front end

i recall the whole front end as you describe went for $600-some on flea-bay about 2 months ago. other auction USD prices if you wait for a deal: w. shipping: forks: 175, wheel w. rotors 150, calipers 60, clipons 30 ea. I'd get the 929 forks (less stiction, ext visible preload) and 954 calipers (lower friction coating). If it fits, you might look for a late model USD Gixxer setup, since forks/brakes are generally considered better.

Re: 929/954 Front end

the USD gsxr 750 forks i'v seen it done, just don't know how easy it bolts up. Thanks for the technical info, with that the 929 and 954 brake reservior are different between the two bikes or it looks like diffeent part numbers? Would the 929 reservoir work with 954 lines and calipers, also will the 954 reservoir provide the best stopping power?
